Hey! My name is Carson Bruce, the content creator and founder of this Wedding Venues Official page. Good to meet you! Back in 2021, my wife and I chose a barn venue for our wedding reception, and it became one of the best decisions of our planning journey. With picturesque photo opportunities, expansive open spaces for guests to roam freely, and an incredibly supportive venue owner and staff, the experience left me with a deep appreciation for barn weddings. Our wedding venue was Applewood Farms in Pell City, Alabama, but I recently was able to sit down with Lorrie Macoy, co-owner of Mallard Oaks Farm, to discuss common misconceptions about barn wedding venues. Click the link below to watch and listen to our full convo. If not, feel free to keep reading for some great tips and inspo!
Misconceptions About Wedding Barn Venues
Lorrie passionately tackles several myths surrounding barn venues. Many people imagine dirt floors and farm animals when they think of barn weddings, causing them to dismiss barns as an option. However, Lorrie clarifies that modern barn venues have all the conveniences you'd expect, including beautifully finished floors and no farm animals—except for Kenny and Ruth, the friendly barn cats at Mallard Oaks Farm. See some photos of them below...
